When you go as an Au Pair with STS a 12-month illness and accident insurance is automatically included, which you do not pay anything for. This insurance gives you the basic cover the American authorities require that you have as an Au Pair. With STS you get this basic insurance automatically and at no extra cost.
Au Pair Plus+ costs only 195 EUR !
The basic insurance gives only a limited cover for illness and accident and does not contain cover for theft, robbery and demands for damages. In cooperation with Gouda Travel Insurance International STS has produced an additional insurance, Au Pair plus+, which gives an extensive cover. The additional insurance gives a more extensive cover, has no deductible, and costs only 195 EUR. It has to be taken out and paid for prior to departure. it may be wise to think through what the two insurances include carefully before you decide which of the them you prefer.
Should you happen to be in some kind of an accident in the USA, it may become very expensive to pay for the hospital stay. Also the legal system is different in the USA and there are lawyers who more or less support themselves by getting claims for damages. This is why it is safe to have an insurance with unlimited economic cover for costs for hospital care and good cover for claims of damages.
